David Nesta Marley was born in Trenchtown, Kingston, Jamaica, October 17, 1968, and is a singer and Jamaican composer. It is one of 12 sons of Bob Marley. After the death of his father in 1981, Ziggy Marley has been appointed as the natural successor to Bob Marley. "Ziggy" Marley had his first lessons in guitar and drums with Bob Marley. When he was 10 was a regular on the recordings of the Wailers, the band that accompanied her father. There was 17 when he debuted on record with the group The Melody Makers, his brothers formed by the Marley family, in Play The Game Right, 1985. At that time he was already using the name Ziggy, chosen in homage to David Bowie, his idol, who had released The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars, seminal album in rock history, in 1972. In 1986 came Hey World!, and two years later, he recorded Conscious Party, an album with the hit "Tomorrow People".
The following year, in 1989, One Bright Day came in the top 20 best selling albums of Billboard magazine. In the 1990s, Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers release Jahmeyka (1991), Joy And Blues (1993 ) Free Like We Want 2 B (1995), Fallen is Babylon (1997) and, finally, The Spirit of Music (1999). In all studies, one thing in common: Ziggy has never failed to include their messages of protest and political voice, the main legacies left by Bob Marley.
Then the Melody Makers Ziggy Marley parted and departed for a solo career.

Ziggy became politically active, working with United Nations and creating a record label called Ghetto Youths Crew. A solo album,''Dragonfly''was released on April 15, 2003. On July 2, 2006, his second solo album,''Love Is My Religion,''was released on his independent record label Tuff Gong Worldwide. This album won a Grammy for best reggae album, and this was the fourth victory in a Grammy for Ziggy. On May 5, 2009, his third solo album''Family Time''was released on Tuff Gong.Family Time aracteriza family and friends, Rita Marley, Cedella Marley, Judah Marley, Paul Simon, Willie Nelson, Jack Johnson, Toots Hibbert, Laurie Berkner, Elizabeth Mitchell and others. This album won a Grammy for "The best musical album for children."
In April 2011 it was announced that the solo album from Ziggy, titled''Wild and Free''seria released on June 18. The title track, featuring Woody Harrelson, is available for download on the net.
Ziggy Marley also released a book, with drawings in comic book entitled "Marijuanaman.
